London Town Hall Wedding Photography is one of my favourite things to do in this city. There is something about a town hall wedding that feels completely and uniquely London, and over the years I have photographed ceremonies at some of the most beautiful registry offices in the capital. Here are my four favourites, and why I love photographing at each one.
Chelsea Town Hall
Chelsea Town Hall is one of those venues that just feels right the moment you arrive. It sits right in the heart of one of my favourite neighbourhoods in London, surrounded by great bars and restaurants that make it incredibly easy to move straight from the ceremony into a celebration nearby. The ceremonies here tend to be intimate, with a small group of close family and friends, and there is something really special about that. Additionally, the venue always looks beautiful inside, with fresh floral decorations that make every ceremony feel considered and personal. For couples who want something small, stylish and very London, Chelsea Town Hall is hard to beat.
Old Marylebone Town Hall
Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in London, with over a hundred years of wedding history written into its walls. And as I mentioned in a previous post, the list of people who have married here reads like a who’s who of British cultural history, from Paul McCartney to Dua Lipa. The seven ceremony rooms are all beautifully decorated, each with its own character, and the steps outside always make for photographs that feel timeless and completely London. If you want a venue with real history and presence, this is it.
Kensington Town Hall
Kensington Town Hall is a beautiful venue in one of London’s most elegant areas. The interiors have a classic, slightly darker feel that creates a very particular atmosphere for photography, rich and dramatic in a way that suits couples who want something a little more formal. And outside, the surroundings offer some wonderful settings for couple portraits, with the architecture and streets of Kensington giving you that classic London backdrop. I have photographed here several times and it never disappoints.
Islington Town Hall
Islington Town Hall is one of my most photographed venues in London, and for good reason. The building has a stunning interior with beautiful arched ceilings and enormous windows that let in the most incredible natural light for ceremony photography. I have worked in both the smaller rooms and the main hall, which can accommodate up to 200 guests and has a grand, very English architectural feel that photographs beautifully. Outside, the surrounding streets of Islington are perfect for a relaxed street photography session after the ceremony, which is something I love doing here. It is one of those venues where every corner gives you something interesting to work with.
I have photographed weddings at all four of these venues and every single one of them is beautiful in its own way. Here is a selection of some of my favourite images from each one. If you are planning a town hall wedding in London and looking for a photographer who knows these venues well, I would love to hear from you. Get in touch and let’s talk about your day.
